The Lady Brabourne College Alumni Association was formed in 1992, under the stewardship of Dr. Maya Dutt, former Principal of the college. Though much younger than its parent institution, it is a pleasure to announce that the Association is going to complete twenty five years of its existence in 2017. Over all these years, the Association has slowly blossomed into an institution to be proud of. There are at present more than four hundred and fifty life members spread all over India and abroad. The Association maintains a Directory of its life members and updates it regularly. The life members are personally contacted as and when programmes are arranged by the Association. There are also annual members, mostly very young members, who have just passed out or are about to complete their graduation.
The activities of the Association are varied, academic, cultural as well as social. Many noted alumni of the college have taken part in academic presentations such as seminars and panel discussions. Many alumni who are well-known performers in the cultural field have performed in the cultural programmes arranged by the Association. The Association looks forward to many such participations in the days ahead. Apart from alumni, prominent people of different fields have also taken part in programmes of the Association. The Association has introduced an endowment lecture which is held annually in the college. It also has a concern for the society. So far, it has done, as much as it could within its limited means, some work for the betterment of life of those underprivileged. It feels that such work changes the lives of not only those for whom the work is done but also of those who do the work.
The Alumni Association set up a Medical Unit for the college few years ago, it has also contributed towards the development of the food court and a Refrigerator for the canteen. The Association takes keen interest in maintaining and beautifying the college garden.
Enjoying time with like-minded people is also an important part of life. Recently the Association organised a lunch-meet which the members present found very invigorating. With presence of many more members in the coming years, this event is expected to turn out to be a grand success.
The students of Lady Brabourne College, past and present alike, feel proud about their Alma Mater, which has played and is still playing an important role in furthering women's education in the country. The Alumni Association is a part of the college. It is important that the Association also grows stronger day by day. To make it stronger and more fruitful The Association invites all past students of the college, in India and abroad, to join the Association. All are welcome to announce news about their groups, if any. Join the Association, keep contacts and participate in the events of the Association as far as possible.
